Howdy friend!

Just wanted to stop by and say hello! What a cool blog! I enjoyed reading a bit about Scout and your canine companions. You've got some interesting pictures and stories here.

I'm a painter from just outside Buffalo, NY. I paint Dairy cows sometimes, but I wish we had oxen around here. They are magnificent creatures.

I might do a painting from one or two of the photos here of oxen pulling cart. The masses of the animals and cart are very large and very interesting shapes.

Well, God bless you and thanks for the good reading! May you have many more wonderful days of adventure!

Thank you for the inspiring comments. I went to your blog and enjoyed seeing photos of your paintings. At one time I trimmed hooves on dairy cattle, so especially enjoyed those pictures of dairies. You are certainly welcome to use any of my photos as reference material if you would like. If you haven't already, take the time to check out more of Rosa Bonheur's paintings of bovines. Also, artist Joaquín Sorolla painted a number of pictures of oxen in maritime environs. You might check with the county fairs there in the New England area for ox pulling competitions --- there are more oxen there and in Nova Scotia than anywhere else in North America. Thanks again.

Hey there friend!

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my paintings. My "Three's Company" painting of dairy cows is probably my best painting to date. I just love the mass shapes of the cows, the feel of the late afternoon.

We have tons of Dairy cows and farms here, though not as many working farms as when I was younger.

I have to look up local farms in the area to see if anyone has oxen and try to get out there and paint them.

Thank you for your offer to use your photos. I think I will try to use them to paint a picture or two.

It's funny that you mentioned Sorolla. He's one of my favorites. I'll have to go back and see some of this works with oxen. He's an amazing artist, one of my favorites, along with Edward Potthast.

Keep up the posts! I'll be following along and will say hello from time to time! When I do get an oxen painting going, I'll let you know.

I'm in Erie County Fair again this year for the art show. Perhaps I can get one done in time for drop off later in June...
